About Dr. Patrice S. Johnson

Dr. Patrice S. Johnson is a leader who moves with purpose, a strategist who sees beyond the immediate, and a voice that calls people toward transformation. Rooted in resilience, driven by impact, and fueled by joy, she is an architect of systemic change, ensuring that those who have been underestimated rise to lead, build, and thrive. With a multi-disciplinary career spanning politics, education, and social impact, she has empowered over 20,000 students and led transformative initiatives that challenge the status quo. 

As Vice Mayor for Muskegon Heights, she championed policies to uplift communities. She later pioneered the groundbreaking 21st Century Urban Boarding Program for girls in Detroit, reimagining education for youth. With her bold doctoral dissertation, the Color of Emergency, Dr. Johnson was the first person of color to earn a Doctorate of Education from Cornerstone University. 

Now, as President and CEO of Project Scientist, she is shaping the future of STEM by ensuring young girls, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, have access to opportunities that foster innovation and leadership. A compelling writer, speaker, and leader Dr. Johnson’s work is rooted in resilience, joy, and justice, pushing forward conversations that drive meaningful change.
